My First Day of Preschool

Posted on

Today was the day. Today I had my very first day of preschool (as a teacher that is). I wasn’t necessarily nervous, because I had done a lot of undergrad work where I am student teaching. Instead, I was just really excited to start and meet the kiddos.
The preschool where I’m student teaching has three different classes: 1 MWF class of 3 year olds that meets in the mornings, 1 T Th class of 2 year olds that meets in the mornings and a M-Th class of 4&5 year olds that meets in the afternoons.
Waking up before the sun did was a challenge to say the least. I had dreams I over slept on my first day and flunked my grad class. However, everything went smoothly.
My cooperative teachers were great and very helpful. They gave me the autonomy I needed to lead the class, interact with the students and also form relationships with parents.
While I don’t have a lot to say about the first day, since I’m still taking it all in, I will say that overall it was a great first day. Now I’m at home, I’m tired and I’m dirty but I cannot wait to be back tomorrow!
